Indie Folk Storyteller

Patrick Lawrence is an indie folk musician and doctor weaving a unique and authentic narrative underpinned by his dual career. Patrick crafts tales of love, self-discovery, resilience, and the human condition that draw listeners into a space of introspection and contemplation.

Born in Brisbane, Australia and raised in Luxembourg, Patrick found his voice in choirs as a child and first picked up a guitar at fifteen. His early years involved experimentation with different genres, impromtu gigs and a stint in a screamo band. Following a return to Australia at eighteen, Patrick began his musical career in earnest, slowly finding his own style while pumping out bangers on pub stages and enchanting guests at weddings. In 2008, Patrick channeled his personal experiences into his debut EP, "Consolidation". A reflective exploration of his journey towards self-understanding, the EP marked an important milestone in his musical career.

Choosing to step back from music and pursue medicine was a difficult decision with major personal implications. This break would ultimately deepen Patrick’s passion from music and provide a richer context for his songwriting. After many years Patrick subsequently returned to music to grapple with personal challenges, including burnout. His music serves as a channel to process these experiences, offering a raw and authentic sound. Music and medicine may seem worlds apart, but for Patrick, they are parallel journeys - each enriching the other.

With his emotive use of acoustic guitar, vocals and other instruments, Patrick Lawrence's music traverses personal challenges and experiences, exploring themes like finding meaning, practicing gratefulness and dealing with loss. In an era where authenticity often feels elusive, Patrick Lawrence's music provides a sense of warmth and familiarity.

Patrick's distinctive sound is a product of a multitude of influences. The intimate storytelling of Gregory Alan Isakov, the down-to-earth narratives of Donovan Woods, the raw emotion of Jordy Searcy and the introspection of Tom Odell have all left indelible impressions on Patrick's work.

Now, Patrick is writing the next chapter in his musical saga – an emotive, thought-provoking EP named Nostalgic for Now. Through this forthcoming collection of songs he invites listeners to join him on a heartfelt journey to find a piece of themselves in the stories.
